Overview

Urban Paddock Cafe, nestled in Tower 2 of Darling Park at 201 Sussex Street, Sydney, offers a refreshing urban oasis for city dwellers and office workers seeking quality, comfort, and a welcoming vibe. This cafe strikes a harmonious balance between a relaxed atmosphere and efficient service, making it an ideal spot for breakfast, lunch, or casual after-work drinks.

The cafe’s hallmark lies in its thoughtfully crafted menu that caters to a diverse crowd—from busy professionals grabbing takeaway to groups unwinding during happy hour. Breakfast champions such as the Smashed Avocado with Poached Eggs and Sweet Potato and Corn Fritters come highly recommended, offering fresh, wholesome choices that reflect a modern palate. Meanwhile, their coffee, neither bitter nor burnt, complements these dishes well, although some may wish for a larger serving to better match the generous Sydney mornings.

Lunch offerings like the gnocchi ragout showcase the kitchen’s dedication to flavor, though there remains room for refinement in texture and pace, as the small kitchen occasionally slows down service. Nonetheless, the friendly staff and inviting space soften these moments, ensuring diners feel genuinely welcomed each visit. Their selection extends beyond food—licensed with a variety of local and imported wines, Urban Paddock shines during its Thursday and Friday happy hours, with a tempting night tapas menu perfect for social gatherings or casual nibbling after work.

One notable strength is their commitment to customer care, demonstrated by their willingness to accommodate last-minute catering requests. This flexibility reinforces their position not just as a cafe, but as a dependable community hub within the bustling Darling Park complex.

Overall, Urban Paddock Cafe stands out as a versatile and approachable venue that meets the needs of Sydney’s working crowd and food enthusiasts alike, blending quality food, great coffee, and a warm ambience in a central, convenient locale.

Gnocchi ragout was pretty good. A bit peppery. Would have preferred pan fried gnocchi because the gnocchi was a bit soft in the ragout. Would probably order again

Decent breakfast, with great service. The eggs tend to be a bit overdone and not runny. The coffee is decent, neither burnt not bitter, but the cup could be bigger

This is a very welcoming place, where you are always greeted with a friendly smile. The food and atmosphere is fantastic and they make a great coffee. They also are licenced with some great local and imported wines. They have happy hour on Thursdays and Friday nights from 4-6, which is very convenient after work. Their night tapas menu is very tasty for something to nibble on with your drink. They are also my go to catering company, because they always try to accommodate, even last minute catering they always to their best. A great all round place to dine.

Great new cafe in the Darling Park complex of office buildings. Highlights so far have been their take away bacon and scrambled eggs on Turkish, their daily fresh iced teas, and their coffee. Lunch is a little on the slow side being such a small kitchen though..

My favourite breakfast place in Darling Park, located between towers 2 and 3. The service is always good and the breakfast food options are great. Try the Smashed Avocado & Poached Eggs, and the Sweet Potato and Corn Fritters.
